A Winnipeg man, who at one time faced murder charges in the death of a fellow nursing home resident, has died.

Joe Mcleod died over the weekend.

Back in 2011, Frank Alexander died after the 87-year-old was assaulted in the nursing home where he lived.

Mcleod was charged in the death.

But he was declared unfit to stand trial as he was suffering from dementia.

McLeod’s obituary says he suffered from Alzheimer’s.
