Manitoba car dealerships will soon be required to include all fees in their advertised prices.

The NDP government is tabling legislation aimed at giving buyers clear information about the cars and trucks they purchase.

The bill would require advertised prices to include all fees, charges and taxes, unless the advertisement indicates taxes are not included.

It would also require vehicle advertisements for used cars from the current and previous model year to clearly state the fact they are second-hand.

Consumer Affairs Minister Jim Rondeau says the proposed law would also prohibit the providing of false information to consumers.

John Carey, past president of the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association says the changes will improve transparency, and are supported by the association.
