For the 15th year in a row, Manitoba is once again the Slurpee capital of the world.
7-Eleven stores across the city gave away more than 64,000 Slurpees Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to celebrate.
The top-selling Slurpee store in Canada is on Portage Avenue.
For the sixth year, a group of Winnipeg runners laced up on free Slurpee day, this time hitting 21 stores in 55 kilometers in one day, slurping at every stop.
"It's really nice to get the slushy feeling to get cooled off," said Scott Burton.
Even amateur runners have vowed to start training to join the crew next year.
