Provincial officials are hoping you’ll slap on some sunscreen, load up a cooler and head to one of Manitoba’s provincial parks this weekends.

Provincial parks across Manitoba will be offering free admission to guests this weekend in celebration of Canada’s Parks Day on Saturday.

Manitobans and visitors can visit any of Manitoba’s provincial parks free of charge on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In addition events will be held at a variety of the parks to celebrate Canada’s Parks Day. Bakers Narrows Provincial Park will have free cake and refreshments at their picnic shelter at 1 p.m. Clearwater Lake Provincial Park will have a bike and wagon parade at 12:30 p.m. and Grand Beach Provincial Park will have bannock and campfire stories near their amphitheatre at 8 p.m.

The day aims to highlight the role parks play in protecting habitats for at-risk species and maintaining healthy ecosystems.
