Manitoba has added another medal to its collection at the Canada Summer Games on the first day of the kayaking/canoeing competition.

Manitoba’s James Lavallee won a bronze medal in the men’s kayaking K-1 500-metre final Monday afternoon.

Lavallee won bronze with a time of 1:49.66. Ontario’s Nick Matveev won gold while Nova Scotia’s Zane Clarke grabbed silver.

All kayaking and canoeing is taking place at the Manitoba Canoe and Kayak Centre on the Red River. The competition runs until Thursday.
