Seven years ago, Niverville mom Colleen Dyck started making energy bars for herself when she was training for triathlons.

The GORP bars are made of 70 per cent Manitoba ingredients, some of which her farmer-husband grows himself. Packaging and labour is all done in Manitoba.

Dyck and a few employees make the bars in her basement.

The Winnipeg Jets have been buying cases of the bars for the players.

The bars are currently on shelves of roughly 40 Manitoba stores.

In January, a national launch is planned with Mountain Equipment Co-op set to stock their stores coast to coast.
