Manitobans are making their own pitches to put up tourists coming to stay in Winnipeg for the Grey Cup weekend.

According to Winnipeg Tourism, hotels over the Grey Cup weekend are up to 90 per cent booked, from Friday, November 27 to Sunday, November 29.

Reyner Smith posted an ad on Kijiji hoping to show some hospitality and make money.

“Absolutely that's part of the idea,” he said from his home in St. Aldolphe. “Over the course of three nights, probably $500 - 600."

Smith's house is just a 10 minute drive to Investors Group Field. He's also offering to drive his guests to the game and make meals.

“Love to cook. Already have plans for breakfast. Eggs benedict will definitely be on the menu so we're all prepared,” he said.

Come game day thousands of fans will be trying to keep their fingers and toes warm, and because of that, some unexpected Winnipeggers will also benefit.

Jerry Sparkes, a football fan, specifically bought new winter boots to keep cozy.

After the game, he's donating them to Siloam Mission so they can keep another person's feet warm.

Sparkes lives just a couple blocks from the stadium. On game day his street can be lined with parked vehicles. With the Grey Cup coming to Winnipeg, he's eyeing up another financial opportunity in his driveway.

"I myself, nice long drive way I'll be more than happy for people to park here and if they want to pay me a few dollars that would be absolutely fine,” Sparkes said, who figures six vehicles could fit in his driveway.

Both Sparkes and Smith said they'd love to see the Bombers play in the Grey Cup, but given the Blue Bombers record this season,  two visiting teams and their fans will more than likely descend into Winnipeg.
