Paul Maurice was a busy man on Wednesday. On the heels of signing a new four-year contract to coach the Winnipeg Jets, Maurice was named an assistant coach with Team Canada at the upcoming World Hockey Championship in Belarus.

It’s his first time coaching at the tournament. Maurice will be joined by Jets’ rookie centreman, Mark Scheifele.

Scheifele’s NHL season came to an end in March when he suffered a knee injury, but has accepted the invitation to join Team Canada.

The tournament begins May 9.
