Some upgrades will be made to the Millennium Library, 251 Donald St., to make the space safer and easier to reach.

The City of Winnipeg is inviting companies to bid on the project, which is set for completion early in 2017.

The City wants to make the library safer and provide easy access from downtown skywalks.

The plan is to install tempered glass panels that will prevent people from accessing the library’s coffee and gift shops after regular hours.

Library staff say the panels will also stop people from tossing garbage and other objects over the railing onto people below.
