A Manitoba family is breathing a sigh of relief after their dog went missing when their house exploded.

A home in Virden, Manitoba exploded on Friday, Aug. 7.  Investigators say the explosion was triggered by a ruptured natural gas line. The home owners were outside at the time of the explosion but the two family pets were inside and one of them disappeared.

The family didn't know if their mastiff "Lilly" had escaped the explosion and feared she was badly injured needing immediate care.

A Facebook campaign on the "Brandon and Area Lost Animals"  page started the search for the missing dog and the posting generated over 88 shares. With a ground and cyber search for the dog underway, they successfully located the missing pooch, alive.

"LILLY IS ALIVE!!!  She survived the explosion!!! This is the news we hoped Lilly's family would receive." (Facebook)

Lilly was said to be heard barking in the field behind the cul de sac near her home and was gently lured into Jordyn & Eric Berkley's garage. They then contacted her owners of Lilly and told them the good news.

Lilly is currently resting at a local veterinary clinic, where she will be treated for her wounds. Her canine companion, Brandi, was also injured by glass from the explosion and also being treated.

"It truly is a miracle these two survived. Brandi was literally rescued from the fire, thanks to the firefighters." (Facebook)

The Facebook group said they are thankful for all of the support in locating the dog and to local firefighters for their work in battling the blaze which consumed 2 homes.
