The 2019 Tim Horton’s Brier will take place in Brandon.

The Canadian men’s curling championship will take place at the Westman Communications Group Place at the Keystone Centre from March 2 to 10, 2019. The winning team will represent Canada at the 2019 World Men’s Curling Championship.

“It is literally huge,” said Rick Chrest, mayor of Brandon. ”I am thrilled primarily on behalf of all of the volunteers particular that we have in this community that have worked so hard to make this a reality.”

“I know that this is kind of the crown jewel of their efforts, so on behalf of that community and all of those volunteers, I couldn’t be happier.”

It’s the third time the Wheat City has hosted the world-famous curling championship, following tournaments in 1963 and 1982.

Chrest also noted another historical connection.

“Returning the event to the birthplace of the famous ‘Brier Patch’ will be an amazing spectacle of the finest in curling, entertainment and Canadian spirit.”

Tickets for the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier, the 90th edition of the championship, are expected to go on sale early in 2018.
