CFB Shilo has introduced new security measures.

Starting Oct. 31, the north entrance will now only be open to vehicles between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

A base spokesperson says the change was made due to staffing.

The south entrance will stay open 24 hours, but guards will remain at the entrance and visitors need to show government-issued photo ID to get on base.

The enhanced security is a response to last week’s shooting in Ottawa.
