The City of Winnipeg has tabled a six-year, $30 million proposal to overhaul Kilcona Park in northeast Winnipeg.

The plan includes fencing off 118 acres of the off-leash dog area to separate the pets from other park users.

The proposal would see major upgrades to the Harbour View complex, the creation of sports fields, new paths and expanded lakes to curb flooding.

While some businesses would be able to lease space in the park to generate money, the city would pick up most of the tab if council endorses this plan.
