An almost three-year-old murder case in a northern Manitoba community can move forward after police charged a suspect.

A 19-year-old man from Wabowden faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of 14-year-old Heather Mallett in June 2011.

Mallett’s body was found on June 9, 2011 after she was reported missing earlier that day.

Police are not releasing the name of the suspect, who was a youth at the time of the offence. He’s due to appear in court in Thompson on April 24.
