Your greens at the grocery store could be costing you more green.

A drought in California is being blamed for the poor quality and shortage of a lot of fruits and vegetables.

Retailers said that's driving up the price of items like head lettuce, grapes, strawberries and peppers.

The sliding loonie is also contributing to higher prices.

Ed Cantor of Cantor's grocery in Winnipeg said growers in the U.S. expect things to return to normal within two to four weeks.
