A cyclist was taken to hospital after a vehicle struck the man Tuesday evening.

The collision happened around 7:30 p.m., just west of the Grant Avenue and Shaftesbury Boulevard intersection.

Part of Grant Avenue was closed as emergency personnel tended to the man.

He was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since improved to stable.

At the scene, a bicycle laid on the sidewalk at the crosswalk and a stop sign was knocked down.

The traffic light features a priority light signal for cyclists.
