A mayoral candidate said, if elected, she would swat mosquitoes with more biological agents.

Paula Havixbeck says the city's insect control branch would move to 100 per cent biological agents by 2016 for tackling mosquitoes.

To achieve this, Havixbeck said more larviciding would be done, including a cost-shared program to spray 12 kilometres outside of Winnipeg.

For fogging, Havixbeck said a pyrocide compound would be used instead of malathion. The candidate said only neighbourhoods with high trap counts would see fogging.
