WINNIPEG - The death of a 15-year-old Manitoba girl who ran away from foster care has prompted several reviews about whether social services failed her.
But the public may never know what role Child and Family Services had in Tina Fontaine's life.
The province's children's advocate automatically investigates whenever a child dies while in care, but the reviews are not made public.
Ainsley Krone, with the advocate's office, says a final report will go to the province's medical examiner, the ombudsman and the cabinet minister responsible.
Fontaine's body was found on Sunday wrapped in a bag in the Red River and police are treating the case as a homicide.
Her death has prompted Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, NDP Leader Tom Mulcair and the Assembly of First Nations to renew calls for a national inquiry on missing and murdered aboriginal women.
