Authorities say more than 60,000 contraband cigarettes and thousands of dollars in cash have been seized in Manitoba following recent investigations.

A raid at a Winnipeg restaurant and a nearby home led to the seizure of 38 cartons of various brands of cigarettes that investigators say were not marked for tax purposes.

Another raid at a Winnipeg store yielded more than 100 cartons of cigarettes.

It's also alleged that a 66-year old Winnipeg man pulled over on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Falcon Lake area was found with 150 cartons of cigarettes that did not bear proper tax markings.

Four people are facing charges and could face thousands of dollars in tax penalties if convicted.
