The City of Winnipeg has suspended the Adult Nuisance Mosquito fogging program as of Wednesday.

It’s because of low activity. The city said the average trap count was at 24, and all quadrants were well below 100.

The Public Works Department said the current mosquito generation is near the end of its life and there are low levels of larvae in standing water.

These are indicators that no major increase in mosquito numbers will happen over the next few weeks.

However, residual treatments are still being used on tall grass and shrubs where the bugs congregate.

The traps will continue to be checked on a daily basis.
