The University of Winnipeg will officially have a new leader Monday.

Annette Trimbee took over from Lloyd Axworthy as the university’s president and vice-chancellor.

She will be sworn-in during the official inauguration Monday afternoon.

Trimbee was born and raised in Winnipeg and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Winnipeg.

She served as a deputy minister in numerous portfolios in the Alberta government before taking the position.

The ceremony takes place at 12:30 p.m. in the university's Convocation Hall.
