Chris Kreider scored the game winning goal with 3:46 left in the third period as the New York Rangers beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2.

The Jets have now lost three of their last four and are barely holding on to the second wild card spot in the standings.

Lee Stempniak and Jim Slater scored for the Jets while Ondrej Pavelec made 24 saves in the Winnipeg net.

With five games remaining, the Jets still lead the L.A. Kings by two points in the standings, but the Kings have a game in hand.

Winnipeg now has three days off before hosting Vancouver Saturday.
