Manitobans continue to open their hearts and wallets for a family who lost four sons in a deadly fire last week.

Four boys were killed early Wednesday when their home in Kane, Manitoba burned to the ground. Their mother woke up during the blaze and managed to get out safely with her three youngest children. Their father and oldest brother had been at work.

Since then, an outpouring of support has come in for the Froese family from people across the country, and close to home.

London Drugs in St.Vital Centre is now collecting donations at each till for the family. These funds will be deposited into the donation account already set up at Access Credit Union.

On Saturday, the store’s manager drove to Kane to drop off more than $600 worth of everyday essentials including appliances such as a kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The family also received a $340 gift card to the store.

As of Saturday, more than $81,000 has been donated at Access Credit Unions in Morris and Low Farm, to support the family.

That’s up from a total of $50,000, Friday.

Dennis Matthies, branch manager for the credit unions, said money has come from people across Canada, including many Manitobans.

Credit union branches in Lowe Farm and Morris close Sunday and Monday, and reopen Tuesday.

Additionally, a Go Fund Me page sits at just over $32,000.
