Peaceful protestors shut down three lanes of traffic westbound on Portage Avenue starting at Strathcona and ending at the Empress overpass.

Police were on scene directing traffic shortly after 4 p.m.

Protestors said they're supporters for the women's protest camp at Memorial Park in downtown Winnipeg.

They want a provincial inquiry into missing and murdered indigenous women, since they said a national inquiry looks unlikely at this time.

There were about 25 men, women and children waving flags and singing. Traffic was flowing slowly Tuesday.

Around 6 p.m., the protest wrapped up.
