The RCMP wants to expand its examination of city lawyers over the fire hall and police station audits.
Last month, council approved a motion waiving solicitor-client privilege, allowing the RCMP to interview the city's in-house lawyers.
A new motion from the mayor extends that leeway to external lawyers hired by the city.
New fire halls had cost overruns including one involved in a controversial land swap with a developer.
The police station went $75 million over budget. In December, RCMP raided Caspian Construction, the company involved in that project.
