A veteran RCMP officer is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference.
Brandon police said they were asked by RCMP to oversee the investigation of "a complaint of sexual assault on a nine-year-old victim" near Ashern on Sept. 26, 2014.
On Sunday, police arrested a 55-year-old suspect from the Arborg area.
The suspect, who has served with the RCMP for 26 years, was not on duty at the time of the alleged offence.
