Triple B Stadium Inc., the organization responsible for Investors Group Field, has filed a lawsuit against the architect and the construction company that built the $210-million facility.

The statement of claim seeks money for upgrades to the stadium and costs associated with the legal proceedings from Stuart Olson Dominion Construction and Raymond SC Wan Architect Inc.

Triple B Stadium Inc. claims it has already completed $4.7 million in necessary upgrades to the stadium.

An engineering report commissioned by Triple B calls for millions more to be spent due to issues with drainage at the stadium.

During initial construction, no drains were installed in seating areas.

Triple B claims water has permeated the concrete causing mould and water damage in many of the 48 private suites and some operations and event rooms.

The stadium group claims there is no immediate danger to patrons in the stadium but there could be in the future if further upgrades are not undertaken.

Following the 2015 Grey Cup at IGF, the concrete on both the upper and lower concourses will be removed, new membranes and insulation installed, and new concrete concourses will be poured.

Triple B Stadium Inc. has not yet sought estimates for the cost of that work but hopes to recover it from the firms named in the lawsuit.

Stuart Olson Dominion Construction says they will not comment because it has become a legal matter.

Calls to Raymond SC Wan Architect Inc. were not immediately returned.
