People had the chance to get up close and personal with the Stanley Cup Thursday in Portage la Prairie.

Darren Granger is the equipment manager for the Los Angeles Kings and when the Kings won the cup this past season, Granger chose to spend part of his day with the cup giving back to Chance 2 Grow.

Chance 2 Grow is a program which gives kids from the central region of Manitoba who come from economically challenged households a chance to participate in activities like piano lessons, art classes, judo, soccer, swimming lessons, etc.

Kids were able to take their picture with the Stanley Cup and Granger's gold medal from his role on Team Canada's men's Olympic hockey team.

Approximately 200 people came to get their picture taken with the cup as the event raised more than $1,000 for Chance 2 Grow.
