The union that represents bus drivers in Winnipeg has rejected a contract offer from the city.

Friday, members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505 voted to reject an offer of settlement between the City of Winnipeg and ATU negotiating committee.

ATU represents approximately 1,100 Winnipeg Transit drivers and 250 maintenance workers.

The results of the secret vote, conducted April 13-17, show 91.5 per cent of members declined the offer.

The City said it will continue to work with the union to deal with outstanding issues and has scheduled further negotiations.

Winnipeg Transit officials emphasize the union has not indicated any imminent strike action.
