The Brandon Wheat Kings opened the Western Hockey League playoffs Thursday with a 4-1 loss against Edmonton.

The Oil Kings got two goals and an assist from first star Brett Pollock.

The Wheat Kings were the highest scoring team in the WHL this season, but the young group looked it, and played nervously in game one.

Only Captain Peter Quenneville managed to score for the Wheaties.

Game two is Friday night in Brandon.
