Winnipeg police have made an arrest in the exploitation of a woman.
Officers said the woman met the accused in the summer of 2012.
It’s alleged he gained her trust and pushed her to become an escort, using threats and violence to force her into the sex trade.
The alleged acts took place in Winnipeg, as well as other cities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Police launched an investigation last October and arrested a man on July 22.
Jared Matthew Schaffer, 29, is charged with a number of offences, including human trafficking, assault and living off the avails of prostitution.
