A 29-year-old man faces assault charges after getting into a fight with a Winnipeg Transit driver.

The altercation happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near Polo Park.

According to police, the scuffle started when a passenger disagreed over bus fare.

Officers said the passenger swung a water bottle at the driver and started yelling, so the driver told him to get off.

The passenger spit on the driver, and then things got physical, police said.

A Winnipeg police spokesperson tells CTV the transit driver is not facing any charges.

The passenger was arrested and charged with assault. He is currently in custody.
