Winnipeg police say they have had a number of reports of thieves breaking into people’s vehicles parked in driveways.
The crimes are being reported throughout the city and police say one of the most common items being stolen is garage door remotes which thieves then use to gain access to garages and houses.
Police recommend people keep their car visible by not parking behind larger vehicles, fences or trees and bushes.
According to police, motorists should also be mindful of leaving valuables in plain sight because visible items make vehicles more attractive to thieves.
