Environment Canada has cleared all extreme cold warnings for Manitoba.

On Saturday, most of the province was under alert due to a combination of cold temperatures and heavy winds.

It included all of southern Manitoba, where in Winnipeg Saturday night, wind chills reached near -40 C with temperatures of -30 C to -32 C.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when the risk of frost bite and hypothermia is increased by cold temperatures or wind chills.

Environment Canada also issued extreme cold warnings in large areas of eastern Canada, including most of Ontario. Those alerts are still in effect.
