Steinbach RCMP and emergency crews responded to a collision on Highway 311, near Highway 12, on Wednesday night that claimed the life of a woman.

RCMP and emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle collision one kilometrr east of Highway 12, north of Steinbach, shortly before 7 p.m. on Dec. 17.

A westbound car and eastbound pickup truck collided head-on.

The 59-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers in the car, a four-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy, went to hospital in Winnipeg, where they’re listed in stable condition, said RCMP. All are fromthe RM of Ste. Anne.

The 34-year-old driver from the pickup, also from the RM of Ste. Anne, a four-year-girl and six-year-old boy suffered minor injuries, said police. They were treated and released.

“Alcohol was not a factor in the collision and all occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. Road conditions do not appear to be a factor in the collision,” said RCMP in a release.

A forensic collision reconstructionist is helping with the investigation into the cause of the crash.
