Inconsistent weather couldn’t keep the crowds away at this year’s Gimli Film Festival.

In total, 10, 300 people gathered at the festival that took place both indoors and on the shores of Lake Winnipeg in Gimli.

The five-day festival drew about 6,000 people to the iconic beach film screenings and about 4,300 people to the indoor showings.

This year there was a 10 per cent rise in ticket sales over last year’s numbers.

“This year’s Gimli Film Festival was capped off by The Goonies!, a final RBC Sunset Beach Screening which drew 1450 people to the shores of Lake Winnipeg on Sunday night,” said a release.
