A semi truck driver may have narrowly missed disaster Tuesday morning in a collision with a train.

According to RCMP, the truck was traveling southbound on the northeast Perimeter overpass near Gunn Road, when it left the road and landed on the nearby train tracks.

An approaching CP cargo train crashed into the truck’s empty trailer, but not the truck itself.

RCMP said there were no major injuries, and the truck driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

They said they do not yet know why the truck left the road, but they have ruled out alcohol as a factor.
