Maturing drivers got a chance to work with occupational therapists at a free clinic aimed at keeping them safe and comfortable behind the wheel.

CAA Manitoba and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists hosted the free CarFit event on Sunday.

“As we age, our vision and even flexibility changes, which can impact our ability to react and our comfort in the car,” Erika Miller, with CAA Manitoba, said in a release. “Simply adjusting foot positioning or the placement of the seat or steering wheel can make an important difference for you and others on the road.”

CAA Manitoba members were assessed and fitted to their vehicles by trained technicians.

A 12-point checklist was used to recommend drivers make minor modifications to improve their confidence, comfort and control when driving.
