A Winnipeg police officer charged and then acquitted of attempted murder has been re-assigned.

Const. Darrel Selley will now be working in the police call centre.

Selley and Const. Kristopher Overwater were charged following the shooting of an unarmed suspect in River Heights in 2007.

Prosecutors alleged during their trial last year that Selley fired the shot and the two constables tried to cover it up.

They were found not guilty but their work status was in limbo until now.

Const. Overwater has resigned from the Winnipeg Police Service.
