Winnipeg police, RCMP and fire crews were on scene at several locations for reports of suspicious packages on Monday.

They responded in the 400 block of McDermot. Crews were at a Canada Post building.

Around 11 a.m., crews left the scene after determining with an x-ray that the package was a DVD.

Around 11:30 a.m., police taped off an area around Winnipeg's city hall and city staff were told to leave the building over a report of two suspicious packages sent to councillor offices.

Shortly before 12 p.m., police cleared the scene and the evacuation was lifted after the packages were deemed harmless.

Police also were on scene at a law office on Broadway and at the Canada Post location on Wellington near the airport. Both scenes were later cleared.
