A 45-year-old woman died in a crash just east of Winnipeg Friday evening.

Police said the woman, from Winnipeg, died in hospital.

They said they will not release the name of the deceased.

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 15 in Anola, about 15 minutes east of Winnipeg.

Oakbank RCMP responded around 7:30 p.m. and STARS Air Ambulance was called out.

RCMP said there were two occupants in each vehicle but did not know the extent of all their injuries.

One car was covered with a tarp. The other vehicle was on its roof near the northeast corner of the intersection.

Emergency personnel treated all occupants of the vehicles at the scene and then they were taken to hospital.

Motorists were asked to slow down in the area as emergency personnel remained on scene for several hours.

Police said alcohol was not a factor in the collision.

Their investigation continues.
