Palestinian supporters rallied once again in Winnipeg Saturday afternoon. With cries of "Free, free Palestine," hundreds marched through the streets after a rally in front of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Several Winnipeg groups came together calling for an end to what organizers say is "the punishment of Palestinians."

Violence and air strikes between Israel and Hamas have intensified this month. The Palestinian health ministry reports over 340 Palestinians are dead, with more than 2,500 wounded.

Israeli soldiers have also been killed, including a civilian.

Supporters of the Palestinian plight say they are appalled.

"Right now, it's the terrible aggression that's happening right now, where the civilian people are getting killed," said Palestinian supporter Darrell Rankin.

"What's happening in Palestine isn't right,” said Samantha Dawes. “Innocent children are getting killed. That shouldn't be happening.”

Groups at the rally included the Canada-Palestine Support Network, Independent Jewish Voices Winnipeg and Peace Alliance Winnipeg.

Other people from Winnipeg's Jewish community are also watching the violence in the Middle East.

Jewish Federation of Winnipeg says Israel pre-warns an area before it gets bombed, but innocent people get caught because rockets come from civilian areas.

"We're talking about missiles stored and fired from buildings, mosques, schools, civilian areas, so when you are trying to degrade the facility, what choice do you have?"

The Jewish federation has a rally of its own planned at the Asper Jewish Community Campus on Monday night. It says the goal is to show support for Israel, and the greater Winnipeg community that it cares about what's happening with respect to civilian deaths.
