A new survey finds Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister’s approval rate is the second highest amongst Canadian premiers.

The Angus Reid Institute poll surveyed a random sample of 4,629 Canadian adults between Sept. 5 and 11.

The survey found 53 per cent of those polled approved of the way Pallister is running the province. That number is up seven points from the last wave of this survey.

Pallister is only bested by Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, who has a 57 per cent approval rate. However, the survey found Wall’s popularity has seen a ‘notable and significant decline’ this quarter from past surveys. His approval is down nine points from spring.

British Columbia Premier Christy Clark had the most drastic quarterly increase in approval since re-election in 2013. While only 34 per cent of respondents approved of Clark’s performance, that’s up seven points from spring.

However, the poll notes Clark’s ratio of disapproval to approval is still nearly two-to-one.

Meanwhile, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne has the dubious honour of being named least-approved of premier. Wynne’s approval rate slid four points to 20 per cent. The survey noted it’s part of a steady decline from 41 per cent in June 2014.
