The parents of Jennifer Catcheway have started a new search for their missing daughter in a remote area north of Dauphin.

Wilfred and Bernice Catcheway say a tip led them to search an area near Pine River.

“This information that came in is a huge part of the puzzle, and I feel that this is more information than we've got in the eight years that Jennifer's been missing,” Bernice said.

Jennifer was supposed to join her family for her 18th birthday party on June 19, 2008.

She never arrived, and hasn't been seen since.

Jennifer’s parents tell CTV News they believe she was murdered, and her remains could be buried in this area.

“We need closure as parents. We need to bring her home, give her a proper burial,” Wilfred said.

The Catcheways have been critical of the police work done on Jennifer’s case. They have followed leads to areas in northern Manitoba and near their home in Portage.

Last fall, they searched nearby Dakota Tipi First Nation and the Portage Diversion.

“Sometimes I feel that this is a nightmare, and you just want to wake up,” Wilfred said. “Looking for my daughter out here in the wilderness, it’s hard. It’s like it’s not real.”

“I’m tired. I just want this to be over,” Bernice said.
