Paramedics rushed a pedestrian to hospital with severe injuries after a hit-and-run at the intersection of Sherbrook Street and Alexander Avenue.

Around 2 a.m. the 29-year-old male victim was attempting to cross Sherbrook Street when a vehicle, driving at a high speed down Alexander Avenue, went up over the concrete median and hit him.

The vehicle, a Ford Fusion, then crashed into a parked car parked in a nearby driveway, police said. Witnesses saw two men get out of the vehicle and flee on foot.

Paramedics took the man to Health Sciences Centre in critical condition. Police shut down Sherbrook between Logan Avenue and Pacific Avenue for several hours while they investigated.
