WINNIPEG -- A man is facing charges after a woman was pushed out of a furniture-moving truck and died from her injuries.

Police say Jennie Graves, 35, was in an argument with the driver of the truck in the early hours Wednesday.

"The argument turned physical which resulted in the driver, while the vehicle was still in motion, pushing the victim out onto the road," said Winnipeg police Const. Eric Hofley.

She was run over by the rear wheels of the truck and died later in hospital, he said. A witness saw Graves on the road and pursued the truck several blocks while a person in another vehicle stayed with the victim, Hofley said.

The witness was able to speak to the driver, who left the truck a few blocks away and came back to the accident scene.

Keith Thompson, who Hofley said was in a common-law relationship with Graves, faces several charges that include impaired driving, failing to remain at the scene, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and criminal negligence causing death.

Hofley said Thompson remains in custody.
