The penny is officially out of circulation as of Monday.
The Royal Canadian Mint is no longer distributing one cent coins and is now hoarding them from banks.
But the penny purge may cause some confusion at the cash register.
As of Monday, all cash transactions will be rounded up-- or down -- to the nearest nickel.
Ottawa decided to scrap the penny because it costs a cent and a half to produce.
