Police have charged an 18-year-old woman in the homicide of a 68-year-old man in the 300 block of Langside Street on Sunday – the third homicide in Winnipeg in just over 24 hours.

Brian O’Donnell was found inside the rooming house where he lived. Police said he was confronted near the residence and stabbed around 5:30 a.m.

Neighbours heard a commotion and called police to check on his well-being. O’Donnell was taken to hospital where he later passed away.

Investigators are still determining the cause of death.

Naomi Shianne Ross, 18, is charged with second-degree murder. The investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday, three other people were stabbed in two separate incidents just a few hours and blocks away from each other in the North End. Two of those victims have since died, bringing the total number of stabbing deaths in Winnipeg this weekend to three.
