RCMP were on scene in East St. Paul Monday morning after two people were shot.

Police said they were called to Raleigh Street between Glenway and Foxgrove avenues at around 6:15 a.m. for a report of a gunshot victim.

They said when officers arrived on scene, there were two gunshots victims, a male and a female. Police said both were taken to hospital where they are in stable condition.

A woman who lives in the area is recounting her story after she says a man with gunshot wounds entered her house.

The woman does not want to reveal her name or where she lives in fear for her safety. The woman said police told her the shooting was not random, but she does not want to take any chances.

The woman said she was out at their family cabin on Monday, when around 7 a.m. her son phoned her from their house in East St. Paul.

"He was awoken by somebody banging on our front window,” she said.

The woman explained that her son found a man standing in the doorway covered in blood. She said the man had two gunshot wounds, one in his chest and one in his arm.

“[He] pushed this back door in, and he was standing there bloody and said call an ambulance I've been shot,” she said. “The fellow was I'm not going to hurt you. Don't hurt me, he said, I just need help."

The woman said her son took the man to the bathroom and called 9-1-1, while she drove home and spent the rest of the day cleaning her floor with bleach.

The woman tells CTV the other gunshot victim went to another house in the area for help one street over.

“It’s very very quiet out here. We never see stuff like this. So it’s literally horrifying,” she added.

Police said it was reported that a light-coloured, four-door car with three males inside was seen leaving the area at the time of the incident. Officials believe the car is connected to the shooting, and it wasn’t a random event.

Officers are assuring the public that there is no threat to public safety as a result of the incident.

RCMP’s Police Dog Services are on scene helping with the investigation. Police said some roads are closed in the area as a result of the incident.
