STEINBACH, Man. - Police are cautioning the public to be mindful after a black bear was sighted in the southeastern Manitoba city of Steinbach.
RCMP say they were alerted to the sighting in the early morning hours and located the bear near a major intersection.
The animal was scared off into a heavily treed area.
Manitoba Conservation officials have been advised.
Experts say bears are looking for food this time of year.
The public can reduce the chances of an encounter by not leaving garbage or pet food outside.
